I’ve seen a lot of posts on how to create exchange 2003 cluster, but the real challenge is when removing the Exchange 2003 EVS

ERROR MESSAGE: Multiple components cannot be assigned the requested action because:

one or more exchange virtual servers are owned by this node. You must failover each Exchange virtual server to at least one other node in the cluster to continue.

How to remove exchange 2003 cluster nodes

- remove exchange from add/remove programs, when asked "if this is the last node", say no

- remove all the front end servers.

ON THE LAST NODE OF THE CLUSTER

- on the cluster administrator, take exchange SA offline, the remove the exchange virtual server 

- now, go to add/remove programs and remove exchange
