I am running production guest VMs on Windows Server 2008 Hyper-V Release Candidate 1. Now that Hyper-V Release Candidate 1 update-- KB950049 has release, I decide to run Windows update to patch my OS.

It turns out that Hyper-V Release Candidate 1 update requires an update to VM Integration Services on all guest VMs. Be Warned, You will have to update each guest VM manually and restart them.

Step-by-step on how apply the update for Hyper-V RC1—KB950049. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950049

1. Shutdown all running guest VMs
2. Run windows update on the host to retrieve the patch. ( Server Manager > Configure Updates > Check for Updates)
3. Click “View available updates”
4. Choose “KB950049” and Click Install.
5. Once installation completes, Choose “Restart now”
6. When THE host comes online, remote desktop into the system
7. Turn on guest VMs on the host, login to each VM
8. On each guest VM, you will notice the “Found New Hardware found wizard”. Click Cancel on “Found New Hardware found wizard”. From “Action” menu of “Virtual Machine Connection”, select “Insert Integration Services Setup Disk”. This will update the (You may need to click “Update” on Server 2008 VM)
9. Once installation is complete, you will be asked to reboot the guest VM.

Here is a high level over view of how you can duplicate your existing Active Directory environment to lab environment.

1. On Production network, create a new VM and promote it to a domain controller (run dcpromo)
2. Once replication is completed, shutdown the newly created VM and move it to the lab environment
3. Turn on the VM in the lab environment, seize Operations Master (OM) roles using NTDSUTIL utility,

It seems that Exchange Management Console SP1 cannot manage non SP1 Exchange 2007 Clusters.

 
You can use Exchange Management Shell non-SP1 to failover the cluster by using cmd-let below

Move-clusteredmailboxserver –identity SccCluster –movecomment test –targetmachine sccnode2

Internet Authentication Service (IAS) is basically Microsoft implementation of radius. Internet Authentication Service (IAS) on Server 2003 has been replaced by Microsoft Network Policy Server.
How I Fixed it: You can install Microsoft Network Policy Server from Add Roles wizard on Server Manager.
